16th century. Magellan, a young and ambitious Portuguese navigator, rebels against the king's power, who refuses to support his dream of discovering the world. After convincing the Spanish crown to finance his voyage, Magellan embarks on a reckless expedition to the east, docking in what is now the Philippines.
Starring Gael García Bernal, with extraordinary cinematography by Artur Tort (Afternoon of Solitude), and produced by Albert Serra. Winner of the Golden Spike at Seminci 2025. It's shot in multiple languages (Portuguese, Spanish, Tagalog, French) and runs for 165 minutes.
